I’m Participating in the Philips Beauty Blogger Challenge #PhilipsDaretoBare
Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.
I was 12 years old when I first started shaving my legs. They were hairy and thought it would make me more grown up and asked my mom about it. She was adamantly against me doing it. She thought I was too young to start and didn’t need to shave. I respectfully disagreed. I have dark hair and felt self-conscious about the hair on my legs. I thought everyone could see it. One day I locked myself in the bathroom and used my mom’s plastic razor and shaved it all off. I felt 100 times better about my appearance.
Over the years, I’ve tried a few different methods to get rid of unwanted hair. I’ve shaved with razors and shaving gel, used depilatory creams and for the past year, I’ve been getting my legs waxed at our local salon. Out of these three methods, the waxing seemed to work the best for me. I find the razors give me razor burn and the hair grows back so quickly. The depilatory creams have a bad smell and give me a headache. The downfall to waxing is that it gets expensive.
My needs are simple. I want a hair removal method that is easy and doesn’t have to be done every day. I also want something that won’t cost me a fortune or take up too much of my time. I’m hoping that epilating will be exactly what I need!
This month I’m taking part in the Philips Beauty Blogger Challenge. Over the next 30 days, I’ll be cancelling my waxing appointments and trying out two new products: The new Philips Bikini Genie and The SatinPerfect Epilator. I’ve never tried epilating before so I’m very intrigued to see how it works for me.
If you aren’t familiar with Epilation Technology, let me give you a brief explanation about how it works. This was all new info to me too! Epilators have rapidly-rotating discs that trap hairs and pull them out by the roots. They say it may initially be uncomfortable, but the results are semi-permanent as many of the hairs will never grow back. I’m not concerned about it being uncomfortable since I normally wax and that hurts!
For the shorter hairs, this epilator has gentle tweezing discs to remove hairs as short as 0.5mm without pulling the skin. The Philips epilators have innovative textured discs that makes the process more effecient and comfortable for the user. It also uses hypoallergenic materials.
I’ll be using the SatinPerfect Epilator on my legs this month. On the bikini area, I’m trying out the Philips Bikini Genie. I hate shaving the bikini area with razors. I always get razor burn and/or nick myself. It’s such a sensitive area that it really hurts. Also with my chronic pain, I need to be extra careful. I like the fact that the Philips Bikini Genie is small and is designed specifically for precision trimming in the bikini area.
Follow the #PhilipsDaretoBare hashtag on Twitter throughout the month. I’ll share updates on my experience as well as tips on hair removal. After the challenge is over, I’ll post my final review of the products and thoughts about the challenge. Wish me luck!
