Aveda Heart Lands Limited Edition 2013 Autumn Makeup Collection Review

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.

I have been a fan of Aveda for over 10 years and love the nature inspired makeup, hair care, skin care and body products. I always enjoy seeing the new collections each season and have recently fallen in love with The Heart Lands makeup collection which is launching for fall 2013. Aveda is my favorite makeup brand because it uses naturally derived ingredients without parabens, talc or mineral oil!

The Heart Lands collection by Aveda is “inspired by simpler times” and features rich, luxurious colors and textures. The line includes two Nourish-mint™ Smoothing Lip Colors, two Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glazes, Six Petal Essence™ Single Eye Colors, two Nourish-Mint™ Lip Liners and two Petal Essence™ Eye Definers. The colors are simply stunning and will work for a variety of skin tones which is another one of the reasons that Aveda is my personal favorite makeup brand.

Aveda Heart Lands Limited Edition 2013 Autumn Makeup Collection Review

For the softest, prettiest lips the Nourish-Mint™ Lip Liners (SRP $16 each) are available in Red Petals and Plum Petals. These two limited edition colored lip liners glided effortlessly over the skin and define lips beautifully with plant waxes and fruit butters. It uses plant lipids which give long lasting moisture and my lip liner lasted for hours without feathering or smudging. These can be used alone as a pretty lush stain or with the lip colors and/or lip glazes.

I really like the Nourish-Mint™ Smoothing Lip Color (SRP $16 each) in Redwood and Sweetplum. The Redwood is a gorgeous earthy shade of red which isn’t overpowering and can be applied lightly for a blushing glow or more color can be added for a deeper shade of red. The Sweetplum is perfect for fall and plums are so flattering on a variety of skin tones…..my favorite! This velvety formula compliments the lip liners perfectly and is also infused with plan and fruit waxes so lips are soft, supple and lush. My favorite feature is that these lip colors use carmine-free pigments for shades that are inspired by nature.

For luxurious shine and gloss the Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze (SRP $18 each) in Winterberry and Honeytree are stunning. I don’t normally wear lip gloss or lip glaze because I don’t like that dreaded tacky or sticky feeling (neither does my husband so he normally avoids kissing me when I wear it) but this formula is so different. It glides on smoothly and has no stickiness at all…..just beautiful, rich shine!

For eyes, the Petal Essence™ Single Eye Colors provide color with aromatic jasmine and geranium flower waxes with a “petal soft” texture. It applies smoothly and I never have to worry that the color will crease or smudge. There are six gorgeous limited edition colors including Dusk Orchid, Viridian, Ginger Root, Hyacinth, Bronze Patina and Antique Gold (SRP $14 each). The colors can be worn alone or layered together. The plum colors are beautiful and really accentuate my hazel eyes.

The Petal Essence™ Eye Definers (SRP $16 each) in Night Lily and Juniper apply better than ANY eye liner I have ever used, gliding on effortlessly. The creamy formulas can be blended easily and are also formulated with jasmine and geranium flower waxes.
