Bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Life at Walmart Canada
Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience.
The little boy I used to baby-sit every day when I was a teenager was obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We spent many hours watching the show on TV and playing with his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures. I remember he always wanted to be Michael Angelo!
Fast forward to 2013 and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand is still going strong! It’s still the same characters we know and love, but with some advances in technology. Right now Walmart stores in Canada are offering customers an exclusive free Turtles app game that brings the characters to life on mobile phones through Augmented Reality. The little boy I used to babysit is all grown up now, but I bet he would think it’s “gnarly”!
You can download the game for free from the Apple store or Google Play and it’s available in both English and French. Look for it under “Swappz Augmented Reality” in your app store on your mobile device. This is where the fun really begins! Visit your local Walmart store from August 9th to 22nd and find the special Turtles signage displayed throughout the store. The app has a map on it for kids to follow on a treasure hunt to find the Turtles signs in the store. Check for displays in the Toy, Apparel and Electronics sections.
When you scan the signs via the app, the Turtles will come to life and perform a variety of ninja moves. I think kids will really get a “kick” out of that! When you unlock each of the four Turtles (Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael), kids can play a fun Turtles Trivia game. Kids can also scan the image found in the August 9th Walmart flyer to bring the Turtles to life with the Swappz Augmented Reality app.
If your children are fans of the Turtles, get the app and head to Walmart and have fun exploring!
