I’ve always had problem skin. I’m the only one in my family who ever had to deal with acne. Both my sisters have clear skin and neither of my parents ever struggled with it. I guess it’s just the luck of the draw. Yay me.
When I was a teenager, it was bad. I tried so many different products and many of them quite harsh that they burned me. I was even on medication for a short time when I was a teen to see if that would help things. Fast forward to where I am today at age 35 and I still deal with acne. No, it does not magically end when you reach age 20!
I’ll admit my acne has improved as my skin ages. I’m not getting as many cystic type pimples and I usually only have a small breakout around my cycle. I’m pretty sure mine are affected by hormones and of course, stress. I also have very oily skin which helps with the anti-aging side of things, but isn’t great for keep my skin clog-free!
For the past month, my skin regime has been very straightforward. I’ve using Stridex Conditioning Acne Scrub to wash my face in the morning and then again at night before I go to bed. No toner, no moisturizer, just one simple product in one simple step.
Stridex Conditioning Acne Scrub cleans your skin and exfoliates at the same time. I learned before the importance of proper exfoliation because it helps to remove the dead skin cells. I never liked to do it though because I’d always be as red as a beet afterwards and it often hurt. I also have very sensitive skin.
What’s unique about this acne scrub is how super-fine the exfoliating spheres are. Don’t expect large or coarse granules here. Stridex has very small, rounded granules that helps to unclog narrow pore openings. It actually feels good to wash my face. And afterwards? My skin is clean with no redness and looks so smooth.
I love the fresh citrus scent which I find very refreshing. One of the ingredients is Bergamot Citrus which is very beneficial for acne prone skin. It also has Acerola Cherry Extract and Honey.
In terms of a medicinal ingredient, Stridex Conditioning Acne Scrub contains 2% Salicylic Acid which fights acne and helps to prevent future breakouts.
Sometimes when I start a new acne product, I find it burns my skin at first. I was waiting to see if Stridex would do that and happy to say that it was great from the start. My sensitive skin was completely fine using this product.
I had a few breakouts over the past month around my cycle. I had one “blind pimple” which was very painful. I noticed that it cleared up fast though. It only really hurt for a day then it started getting smaller and smaller until it was gone. Those are the worst ones! Other than that, I’ve noticed that I’ve been breaking out less. I think my skin is something that I’m always going to struggle with, but as long as I take care of it, I can keep my breakouts under control.
If you have a teen with acne or you yourself have the same problem as me, give Stridex Conditioning Acne Scrub a try. All Stridex products are available at most food, drug and mass merchandisers in the USA. You can also buy it online at drugstore.com
