WordGirl vs. The Energy Monster DVD Review
You can’t go wrong with PBS Kids. There are a lot of shows on the network that both my boys enjoy. One of them is WordGirl. This show follows the life and super hero adventures of WordGirl as she fights crime and enriches vocabulary usage. My oldest has been a fan for years and was quite excited when we received WordGirl vs. The Energy Monster on DVD for review.
PBS Distribution and Scholastic Media have teamed up in releasing WordGirl vs. The Energy Monster, slated for sale starting May 14th. This DVD includes three WordGirl episodes that include “Dinner or Consequences” Part 1 and Part 2, “Best Fan Club Meeting Ever”, and “Day at the Museum”. The DVD runs approximately 50 minutes and includes some cool interactive features like interactive games, video shorts, and coloring pages. With a suggested retail price of $9.99 this DVD is the perfect fit for any WordGirl fans in your life.
I like the WordGirl series because it really captures the attention of both of my boys – especially Matthew, my four-year-old. There’s a “super hero” element to it that draws Matthew to it and keeps his attention. The stories are easy to follow for young kids. The good vs. bad lessons are simple for young minds. Matthew always roots for WordGirl and really pays attention to the words she says and the lessons from each episode. The great thing about this WordGirl DVD is that I can put it on for my boys and walk away. I don’t have to worry about inappropriate language or violent scenes. At 50 minutes long in total this DVD is the perfect length for my two and four year olds. My two-year-old even clapped when the DVD was over and asked to watch it again. This is one DVD I don’t mind having on repeat!
