Janet’s Planet “Exploring Microgravity” DVD Review
I home educate my three children ages 5, 6 and 7 and it always amazes me when I discover so many educational enrichment resources. Janet’s Planet is a great way to teach children about science and our solar system.
Janet’s Planet is a children’s television show on Public Television which features the host, Janet who delivers information on health, science and history. We have not yet seen this show but I plan to find out if it is broadcast in our area so we can start watching it. Janet’s Planet is excited to release the Emmy award winning program, “Exploring Microgravity” which is currently available on DVD to help children get excited learning about gravity and microgravity.
Janet’s Planet is presented in an interesting and informative manner which captures the attention of children, including even younger kids like my 5 and 6 year old. This 37 minute exploration is the right length to present these concepts and incorporates science, technology, history, engineering, art and math. Kids are introduced to Galileo, Newton and Cavendish and learn more about how they used scientific principles to learn how the universe works. My seven year old became so fascinated after viewing this DVD that he was actually encouraged to learn more about gravity and microgravity by checking out books on the topic at the library. He loved “teaching” us about what he had learned and about conducting simple experiments to show it in “action”.
Janet’s Planet is not just educational but fun to watch (even for grown-ups) and I even learned a few new things by viewing “Exploring Microgravity”. My children loved watching it and were full of questions about gravity and microgravity. I was delighted to see them get excited to learn new ideas, concepts and terms about our Universe.
You can purchase Janet’s Planet on DVD for only $9.99 and this is an excellent tool for teachers, home educators and parents. You are invited to visit the Janet’s Planet website to learn more and get purchasing information.
