I love experimenting with new mediums for my photos. I’ve had pictures I’ve taken printed on canvas, on wood, and even aluminum. I think the mix of mediums really make for interesting conversation pieces and really showcase my photos as more than just pictures – they are art. Now I have a new piece in my collection, a photo printed on glass from Fracture.
A play on words combining Frame and Picture, Fracture is the brain-child of two friends who wanted to revolutionize the framing and printing world and bring something new and exciting to the market. Using 2mm thick, single-strength, ultra clear glass, Fracture transforms your digital photos into works of art for your wall. Every piece is created in their studio in Gainsville, FL where they aim to have each order completed within 24-48 hours of being placed. With prices ranging from $10 to $125, there’s a Fracture fit for every budget.
I received a “Classic” Fracture for review. This is their most popular product at the moment. The “Classic” is 10×14 inches, can be created in either portrait or landscape orientation, and sells for $40. I chose a recent picture I took of my oldest son Matthew on our last trip to my in-laws in Maryland. We found a great park where both of my boys had a blast. I particularly liked this photo for the colors and the look of pure joy on my son’s face. I thought it would look great in a larger print. Ordering on the Fracture site was a breeze. I simply uploaded my photo, choose the orientation, the size and the border, and I was done. The site also allows for cropping, resizing, grayscale and shadow edits, but I choose not to use any of those features for this particular piece. The completed piece arrived quickly – only a few days after I placed the order. It was securely packaged and came with a mounting screw. I loved the sharpness of my picture on the glass. I think the colors are bright and clear, and really “pop”. It looks great on my photo wall. I’d love to experiment more with Fracture and do some smaller pieces to complement this one.
