Earth Day Quotes
Every year since 1970, we have celebrated Earth Day on April 22. My first memory of Earth Day was back in 1990 when I was in grade 6. We watched videos and did activities in science class to learn more about it. I remember back then feeling fear at what our Earth was becoming. Improvements have been made, but I think we still have a long way to go.
In honour of Earth Day this year, I’ve made these Earth Day quotes with words of wisdom that resonated with me. How do you celebrate Earth Day?

I really like the Benjamin Franklin quote but unfortunately it is too accurate. I worry that the only time most people will begin to be concerned about the depletion of natural resources in when it is noticeable that they are gone or close to gone.
These quotes are lovely. I remember the first Earth day – it was so long ago, but in some ways it seems like yesterday. I remember some people said “It’s just a gimmick, it’ll never catch on” – guess we proved them wrong! I love it every year. and always find a way to help our planet, no matter how small. It’s my way of saying “thank you”.
The first quote is more true than ever and as a BC resident, and at this time, I am sad to think that any potential oil tanker spills could leave a destroyed eco system and environment for our next generations.
I believe that Earthday should be everyday. I try to pick up trash out of the neighborhood everyday when I am walking my dog. This is my way to celebrate Earthday.
These are indeed inspirational; I like the first one especially. We just don’t seem to be honoring the idea of posterity anymore. Too much short-term thinking!
These are great quotes, I like the first one and the last one. “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors we borrow it from our children,” this quote reminds us all that we need to think about the state of the world that we leave behind for future generations. And the quote by Benjamin Franklin, “When the well is dry, we know the worth of water”, this quote is a very practical matter of fact truism.
Thanks for these wonderful quotes, they certainly make a person think
