My three children ages 5, 6 and 7 always gravitate towards playing with toys that inspire their creativity and don’t require batteries. The Imagine I CAN™ series by Manhattan Toys is a fantastic collection of toys, activities and arts & crafts projects that were designed specifically to inspire the child’s imagination. There are over 28 kits to choose from featuring puppet kits, role-play activities, do-it-yourself kits and arts & crafts projects.
With so much variety to choose from at Manhattan Toys these Imagine I CAN™ kits would make great birthday presents, rainy day activities, spring break fun and party favors. I home educate my children and we have art and enrichment classes four days per week. I always get excited when I discover unique and fun projects……..the Manhattan Toy Imagine I CAN™ series is just perfect for our classroom.
There were fun and exciting activities and projects for my two boys and my daughter to enjoy creating. Some of the kits were used for independent activities such as the Create-A-Puppet Giraffe ($6) and Create & Color Princess ($6) while the Feel Better MD ($20), Pet Rock Pals™ ($11) were excellent for cooperative and interactive play.
My seven year old son’s favorite animal is the giraffe so I knew that he would enjoy making the Create-A-Puppet Giraffe ($6). He was very excited to start his project and was able to follow the instructions carefully in order to bring his giraffe puppet “to life”. He was thrilled to introduce us to his new “friend” and even made up a story using his puppet to put on a show for the family. I appreciate that while this puppet kit is quite affordable, Manhattan Toy did not scrimp on the contents and the giraffe puppet was durable, realistic looking and oh, so adorable!
For cooperative play, the role-play kit, Feel Better MD ($20) is a lot of fun for all of the kids. This high quality toy doctor set includes everything your little one will need to pretend to be a doctor or a nurse for their human pals or even stuffed animal friends. This kit includes a doctor’s mask, stethoscope, arm sling, syringe, a reflex hammer, pretend-play tube of ointment and pretend-play medicine bottle. My six year old daughter has severe chronic asthma and has unfortunately spent a lot of time in the hospital. She has decided that she would like to be a doctor when she grows up so she had so much fun “treating” her “sick” brothers and even our boxer, Jack. My children have had a few play doctor sets over the years and what makes this kit extraordinary and far better than any we have had before is that the pieces are very durably crafted and it is all housed inside a cute, colorful storage tin which keeps everything organized between doctor visits.
When I was a child, I loved my pet rock collection. My own children recently had the opportunity to create their own pet rocks with the Pet Rock Pals™ kit. This project was so much fun that even I couldn’t resist “helping” to put it all together. It includes 2 packets of clay stones with a whopping 20 felt pieces, 8 pipe cleaners, and 4 pairs of googly eyes and glue. There was lots of giggles all around as the Pet Rock Pals came “alive”. The kids enjoy playing with their new “children” which are put to “bed” in the neat collectible tin.
My daughter has been having a terrible time with her asthma as the spring pollen count has been dreadful this year. She was tearful when I told her that she wouldn’t be able to play outside for a few days until I showed her the Create & Color Princess kit ($6). She spent over 2 hours meticulously coloring the pre-cut 3D cardboard character and background scene. She was able to proudly assemble it all together by herself and put on a performance featuring her “princess”.
