Care Bears & Power Rangers DVD Review
Long New York winters make for long days in the house for me and my two boys. While we do our fair share of crafts and coloring, there are times when a DVD marathon is our choice of fun for a few hours. We have quite a DVD collection – from educational to holiday-themed to just-for-the-fun-of-it DVDs. I’m glad to have two new DVDs to add to our collection that have just hit the market this March – Care Bears: Totally Sweet Adventures and Power Rangers: Clash of the Red Rangers – The Movie.
I grew up watching the Care Bears, so I was excited to see the latest installment of the series. Care Bears: Totally Sweet Adventures has four cute little episodes that feature all of the favorite characters I remember from my childhood – Funshine Bear, Cheer Bear, and my personal favorite, Grumpy Bear, among others. Each episode is just a little over 20 minutes and each one features easy-to-follow story lines and some cute catchy songs. Both my four-year-old and two-year-old enjoyed this DVD. The complete running time of this DVD is 88 minutes, which includes the special Share and Care Sing-along feature, and the MSRP is $14.98.
My four-year-old son, Matthew, has been a Power Rangers fan for a while now. He’s seen the TV show, he has a few of the action figures, and he and his little preschool buddies like to run around pretending to be the Rangers fighting crime. Matthew loved the action and the excitement of this DVD which revolves around the Samurai Rangers teaming up with the mysterious RPM Red Ranger to fight off dual threats from Master Xandred’s Mooger army and a robotic super villain from the RPM Ranger’s dimension (believe me, that all makes sense to a Power Rangers fan!). This DVD runs about 45 minutes, making it a good movie for the younger crowd. This DVD also comes with a bonus RPM Ranger trading card. The MSRP for this DVD is also $14.98.
I think both DVDs make for great gifts – a great idea for Easter Baskets for sure! While neither DVD is officially rated, I found them both to be appropriate for both my boys. There’s no foul language and the fighting scenes in the Power Rangers movie are quite tame. If you have Care Bears or Power Rangers fans in your life, these two DVDs are the perfect fit for them.
