One Thousand Gifts Devotional Title: One Thousand Gifts Devotional: Reflections on Finding Everyday Graces (One Thousand Gifts Journal)

Author: Ann Voskamp

My Review:

The New York Times bestselling book, One Thousands Gifts was written by a fellow home educating woman and very talented writer, Ann Voskamp. I was delighted to have the opportunity to read her follow up devotional, One Thousand Gifts Devotional… did not disappoint!

This inspirational book includes sixty devotionals which made me reflect upon the personal graces in my own life and gave me pause to be thankful for both the “simple graces” and the “hard graces” I experience every day. I appreciate that it includes a daily scripture and prayer which helps me as I have committed to learning more about the bible this year.

In this journey, the author explores “Choosing Grace”, “Anti-Anxiety Grace”, “Humble Grace”, “Love Song Grace” and so much more with personal reflections that are beautifully written. As a mother of three young children who are exuberant, full of energy and at times exhaustingly naughty, I really appreciated the devotional, “Pit Grace” which I could relate to fully and completely. I particularly liked reading the prayer at the end of the devotional which I have repeated almost daily since reading it and feel a sense of calm and appreciation for my blessings so that I can effectively discipline them as needed without falling into the “pit”.

As we enter into the 2013 New Year, I enjoy reading this devotional every day!
