I love fall and winter for many reasons – one of them being the inspiration to bake once the temps start dropping! I like to make goodies for my family, especially when we’re snowed-in or it’s just too cold to go outside. While I don’t see anything wrong with indulging every once in a while, I do my best to use “good for us” ingredients when whipping up some treats. One great way to indulge without guilt is by using spreads from Unilever.
Unilever has launched a new initiative called “Good to Know” in order to educate consumers about the health benefits of their spreads over using butter. I’ve been using I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter for years in my cooking. I’ve always found it to taste just like butter, but with better health benefits (like 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter). I always have a tub in the fridge for bagels, toast, grilled cheese, etc. Unilever also offers other great brands that are all cholesterol free and a great alternative to butter – Country Crock, Promise, Brummel & Brown and Imperial. I like to use the Imperial brand when baking – I find the sticks easy to work with and think it has a great taste.
I received a “Good to Know” baking set for review which included a gift card to purchase some Unilever spreads to use in my cooking and baking. The baking set included a Silpat baking sheet liner, a non-stick baking sheet, a cooling rack and a stainless steel cookie dough scoop (I have never owned/used a dough scoop before, now I’m wondering how I survived so long without one!). I used the gift card to purchase Imperial all-purpose sticks that I love to use in my baking as well as a two-pack of the original I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spread. My boys were excited to help me make some cookies using Unilever’s one-bowl chocolate chip cookies recipe – it’s a super easy recipe that’s great if you have little helpers in the kitchen.
To learn more about the “Good to Know” initiative, visit the website. There you’ll find information on all the Unilever spreads and a ton of great recipes to inspire your cooking and baking. While there, sign up for the Confection Perfection newsletter and you’ll be entered in their December sweepstakes for great prizes like a deluxe stand mixer and family cookbooks.
