National Geographic Kids Holiday Gift Guide Ideas

My family is a huge fan of the educational toys, books and games from National Geographic Kids. I am very excited to recommend a few of our favorite ideas for gifts for adventure loving children of all ages.

National Geographic Kids Holiday Gift Guide Ideas

We have many National Geographic Kids books in our home library and many have been “well-loved” over the years from reading again and again. There is one exceptional book that was recently released that is by far and away our favorite National Geographic Book… is absolutely breath-taking! The National Geographic Book of Animal Poetry (SRP $24.95) was brilliantly edited by J. Patrick Lewis, U.S. Children’s Poet Laureate and includes animal themed poetry from favorites such as Robert Frost, Jack Prelutsky, Emily Dickinson and many more. What makes this book so exceptional is the stunning photography that accompanies each poem bringing it to “life” in a way that I have never experienced before in a children’s book. This hardcover book is perfect as a coffee table showpiece but ours always seems to disappear into the children’s room where they will often be found reading poems aloud to each other and discussing what it means.

For the youngest explorers, the National Geographic Little Kids Look & Learn Shapes! board book (SRP $6.99) is a great way to introduce children ages 1-4 shapes via vibrant colors, images and photographs. This is just one of the neat books available for little ones in the Look & Learn series which helps to develop essential skills.

My bug loving children were delighted to discover the Nat Geo Wild Anteater Bug Vac ($25.95) by Uncle Milton. This motorized bug vacuum is a safe way to collect and observe bugs. The “anteater” is very realistic looking and it has a removable “belly” so kids can see the bugs up close. After observing the bugs, my children release them safely back to their natural habitat. This educational, fun toy is a big hit with my kids who spend hours outside everyday collecting bugs and making observations in their wildlife notebooks.
