Christmas Fiction from Howard Books
I love to read Christmas themed books during the holiday season because it always puts me in a merry mood. Howard Books has released two wonderful Christmas titles that would be great gift ideas or perfect reading on a cold, winter night.
The Ghost of Christmas Present (SRP $16.99) by Scott Abbott is a touching story about a widowed father’s love for his critically ill young son. Patrick’s life takes a turn for the worse when he loses his job and faces financial crisis. When Rebecca, a social worker turns up to investigate whether his situation makes him an unfit father he becomes desperate to keep his son and determined to change their lives for the better. Patrick decides to take his acting skills to the city streets in the performance of a lifetime as the “The Ghost of Christmas Present”. With only three weeks until Christmas and his court date, will Patrick be able to keep his family together?
What I believe makes this story so memorable is that many people will be able to relate to the characters and their circumstance in many ways. It is a quick, enjoyable book that is perfect on those nights when you want to curl up under a blanket with a cup of cocoa and read a good story!
Paper Angels-A Novel (SRP $14.99) is an inspirational story by Jimmy Wayne with Travis Thrasher. Every year our family selects three children from the Salvation Army Angel Tree to purchase gifts for at Christmas. It is such a simple way for us to show our gratitude for the blessings in our life by paying it forward. In Paper Angels, Kevin Morrell is a successful businessman is a crumbling economy who takes a paper ornament from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree. The recipient is a young 15 year old boy named Thomas who has suffered from abuse and abandonment by his parents. Kevin and Thomas find themselves coming together in an inspirational story that will show both of them that God does exist even amidst harsh circumstances and the true meaning of Christmas. I really enjoyed reading this book and plan to keep it in my holiday collection to read every year as a reminder to be thankful for the love of our family.
Both of these titles from Howard Books are sure to get you in the holiday spirit and are currently available for purchase online and at major retailers.
