Beam N Read Review
One of my all-time favourite things to do is curl up in a warm bed with a good book. I’ve been an avid reader since I was a very young child and love to lose myself in a good book. However, when I got married and had to share a bed, I lost touch with my favourite pastime. I could only read in bed when I was either by myself because John was away or staying up late. When he is in the bed with me, I can’t keep the light on to read and even my little night table lamp bothered him. Sadly, I have not read myself to sleep in awhile, but things will be different now. I’ve got a nifty little tool that will let me read in bed without disturbing John!
The Beam N Read LED 6 Deluxe Hands Free Light is genius! It’s basically a light that hangs around your neck illuminating whatever is front of you. It’s battery powered with 6 LED lights that don’t burn out. It takes 4 AA batteries that will give you 50 hours of light using all 6 LEDs and 100 hours of light using 3 LEDs. They also have two clip-on coloured filters. Red is for night vision and orange to give you a softer light and reduce blue light.
It also comes with a 4″ x 5″ Acrylic Fresnel Magnifier that clips on the light. This is mainly to be used for detail work like knitting, cross-stitching, etc.
It’s super simple to turn on. Just flip up the light to turn it on and flip it down to turn it off. Flick the switch to turn it from 3 LEDs to 6 LEDs.
You can use the Beam N Read for more than just reading! Use it for crafts, camping, power outages or even going in to check on the kids after they are asleep. We have had a few power outages here and now I feel a little more prepared with the Beam N Read. It’s no fun trying to read in low light!
I personally like using the 6 LED lights with no filter when I’m reading in bed. I don’t have eye strain and John is able to fall asleep. It’s a win-win for both of us. I also like that it doesn’t have to clip onto to anything. I’ve tried book lights in the past and always had issues getting them to stay in place.
You can buy the Beam N Read on their website or from Amazon.com for $29.95. Amazon also has free shipping since it’s over $25! Canadians will have to buy it from the Beam N Read site since Amazon.com won’t ship to Canada.
The Beam N Read LED 6 Deluxe Hands Free Light is a practical gift idea for a book lover, crafter, parent, senior or camper on your holiday gift list.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Fashionista Events hosted by Still Blonde after all these Years and Modly Chic for Fashion. I received a review product as a thank you for participating. Fashionista Event bloggers are not responsible for sponsors that do not fulfill their prizes.
I would use this for crocheting and/or while using the computer at night. My husband would use it for reading and to keep by the bedside for a quick night light. 🙂
I would definitely use it for cross-stitching. There are times, especially at night, where it would come in handy.
I would use this for needlework (quilting, embroidery) as well as reading.
I would use this for needlework, as well as reading.
We would use it for reading, needlepoint, or camping
I would love to use the device for late night reading and doing crossword puzzles.

thank you
I’d use it for reading, getting from the car to house at night, and for my washroom breaks during the night.
Besides reading this would be great for searching for items way at the back of kitchen cupboards!

I could use this at camp at night when everyone else has gone to sleep!
I would use it for fine needlework (cross-stitcch, embroidery). Sometimes I need that extra light focus.
I would use this for reading and when we go camping. Hate having to carry a flashlight in my mouth when my arms are full :p
I would definitely use this for reading.
I’m lazy so I would use for late night reading and crocheting.
I have significant vision loss and this would help me
This would be ideal for me who loves to wind down at night by reading a book in bed but get complaints from hubby about leaving the lights on-this would be ideal and not intrusive to him trying to sleep while I read:)
My dad could definitely use it while up in the attic! 😉
Perfect for needlepoint!
My hubby could use this at work. He is a maintenance worker, and has to crawl in spaces that don’t have much light.
I have several different ways I would use the bean-n-read. To begin with, I am almost 1/2 blind in the dark and always have been. Also, as I am get older, my eyesight just isn’t what it used to be. I enjoy reading a lot…so much so that I generally read a novel each week sometimes 2 if my work doesn’t keep me away from it. Most of all I love to sit outside and read, even when it is cool outside, and dark and it would be perfect for that. Also, as a community nurse, the lighting in some homes is very poor and I find myself struggling to see the wounds I am there to treat so I think it would come in pretty handy for that too.
I would use it for needlework. I do embroidery and quilting, applique.
There are many nights that I do not sleep because I have MS , the medicine sometimes keeps me awake till 4 A.M., Like to read with the lights off using a flashlight so I don’t have to get out of bed to turn off the light. Moved in not to long ago but still have boxes in mu room.
great gift
I would use for reading at night and maybe taking the dog on those late night bathroom trips.
i would use it for crocheting, even during the day so that i have something directly where the stitches are! 🙂
My husband is in construction as an electrician and often works in tight dark spaces. He would absolutely love this as he would have both hands free while illuminating what he has to work on.
This looks perfect! The little ones that clip onto the book only project light in a concentrated spot on the page…. you either have to move it or guess the words. This one projects from your viewpoint & should be much better!
I would definitely use the Beam N Read for reading at night and also for late night giveaway entries on my computer… haha. I have astigmatism so it would be helpful for me to have some light while I am in dark places.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d use it for crafting.
It will be a awesome gift for my parents to read books and newspaper
Oh this is on my christmas wish list!!!! I am an avid reader, most of which I do at night and am always trying to find a suitable book like to read with! Ohhhhh Santa! Please leave this under my tree!!!! Happy Holidays to all & good luck !!! 🙂
I would use this for my Scrapbooking and dh would use it at night when he reads in bed
I see it works beautifully with the Kindle, but when I saw this I was thinking photography. Sometimes when it is dark, and you are trying to capture an image without using flash, these devices are perfect for casting the right amount of light. It works….really.
i like that you can use it quilting and for needlework, i do cross stitch and this would be great for that
My husband could use this when he’s reading in bed, I have a hard time sleeping with the lights on! It would be helpful when he is working on the car too.
My office is attached to our bedroom (no door) and when my husband goes to bed I have to keep the light off for him, so this would be useful for me for working after he has gone to sleep.
i think for reading adn sewing
