There are a lot of products out there aimed at moms, and it can be difficult to know what products are best. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error with toys, clothes, strollers, etc. with both my boys. One line of products I’m very careful about is those that I need for when my boys are sick. I stick with the medicines I know that work, the humidifiers I think work best, and I keep my first aid kit stocked with the products I trust to work. One item that I think is an essential for every parent to have on hand is an accurate, easy-to-use, reliable thermometer. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to add a new weapon to my first aid arsenal – the VeraTemp Non-Contact Thermometer.
I received a VeraTemp Non-Contact Thermometer for review. When it arrived, I was glad to see that it was small enough to be convenient for travel, but big enough to be easy to handle. The digital screen is also backlit and easy to read. Of course the most important feature of any thermometer is accuracy, so I was glad to find out that the VeraTemp is as accurate as any oral, rectal and ear thermometer. Another great feature of the VeraTemp that I haven’t seen in other digital thermometers is that capability to store temps – its built-in memory stores up to 32 most recent temperature readings, which is a great way to be able to track your child’s temps. Of course the greatest feature of this thermometer is that it is a non-contact thermometer – so it’s a non-invasive way to get an accurate temperature on a cranky sick child! I find this type of thermometer to be the best way to get a reading on my youngest son who is a “squiggler”, and my older son thinks it’s fun to have his temp taken this way (another plus!). It’s also a great way to gauge your child’s temp when he’s asleep, which always gives me peace of mind – the backlit screen makes it easy to see in the dark.
