The Tigger Movie Blu-Ray Review
On August 21st, 2012 Disney’s The Tigger Movie “bounced” onto Blu-ray Combo Pack and HD Digital for the very first time! It has been digitally enhanced pictures and sounds, and now has exclusive bonus features for the whole family to enjoy.
In the classic Winnie the Pooh style, The Tigger Movie opens with a real life view of Christopher Robin’s bedroom and his beloved Hundred Acre Woods friends. One will think that this is just the start of another adventure of Pooh bear (Jim Cummings) and his friends, but Tigger (Jim Cummings) interrupts the narrator and takes over the movie for his very own.
In the Hundred Acre Woods, Rabbit is trying to organize all of the animals of the woods with preparations for winter. All seems to be going well, until Tigger gets involved and causes a small accident. All of Tigger’s friends seem angry with him, so with his tail tucked between his legs Tigger decides to take off.
Tigger begins to question his origins, and goes in search of his family tree. The Tigger Movie stays true to the humor of the previous Winnie the Pooh animated tales, and has Tigger going in search of a real tree, the biggest, most stripiest tree in all of the forest. To Tigger’s disappointment, he cannot find his “family tree”.
In a kindhearted attempt to make Tigger realize his home is in the Hundred Acre Woods, his friends write him a letter, all the while pretending to be other Tiggers. Once more Tigger sets out to find them. Tigger’s friends make Tigger costumes, but when Tigger discovers that they aren’t really Tiggers, he gets upset and says “TTFE”–ta ta forever!
This is the first time I had ever seen The Tigger Movie; I am much more familiar with the older Hundred Acre Woods animated classics, but felt that this remained very true to the Pooh magic that I loved so much as a child. Tigger has always been one of my favorite characters, and I was thrilled that he was starring in his very own movie. The audience along with Tigger learns an important message: sometimes friends can be the greatest family you will ever know.
