When I was at BlogHer this year, I had a private invite to check out the Hallmark suite where they were showcasing their newest products. They had so much neat stuff there from Christmas cards to interactive storybooks to stuffies. My favourite out of all the products was the Text Bands. I knew they would be a hit with my 7 year old daughter, Bridget. I was right. Bridget LOVES Text Bands and even figured out on her own how to make it work! She explained it to me so that I could give it a try too.
Text Bands are band that kids where around their wrist that let them send text messages up to characters to their friends. To send, kids just need to bump fists or shake hands and the messages will instantly transfer to the other person’s band. Each band can hold up to 24 messages. Kids can send whatever kind of message they want. Note that it has a Bad Word filter so there’s some language that they will not be able to send. As a parent, I appreciate the special filter!
When kids aren’t using the Text Band they can turn it off by toggling a switch on the back of the band. They take two CR2O32 button-cell batteries, but they come with batteries so you won’t worry about having to buy any right away.
There are two starter kits (Purple and Charcoal) and eight style bands (Volcano, Pink Glitterati, Pink Safari, Camo Breeze, Limeade, Peace Graffiti, Camo Chameleon, Shredtastic, Darth Vader and Minnie Mouse).
