Culture Agents Mission Beijing Review
I home school my three young children and one of my favorite aspects of teaching them is being able to give them opportunities for enrichment activities to supplement our curriculum.
They recently had the opportunity to become “Culture Agents” on a mission to Beijing, China. What are the Culture Agents? It is an educational, hands-on interactive program that includes a briefcase packed with missions and accessories as well as online mission access. It was created for children ages 7-12 (though my five and six year old children enjoy it too) giving them mission goals to learn about other cultures and the opportunity to role play while learning about another culture.
The first Culture Agents edition, Mission Beijing has lots of interesting games, real videos and children will learn Chinese words along with nine key subject areas about subjects such as traditional foods, weather, music and even the fashions. My children really enjoy using this program and even informed me that they wanted to make a Chinese inspired dinner so that they could practice using the “trainer chopsticks” from the mission box. This set also includes gear such as a travel word chain with 90 vocabulary cards, a Culture Agents luggage tag and game pieces. The online mission access was also a big hit with my seven year old son who loved teaching what he had learned to his younger siblings.
I appreciate that Culture Agents- Mission Beijing successfully captured my children’s interest in learning about other cultures. During our weekly visit to the library, they even asked me if we could check out some books about Asian children so that they could learn even more and we picked up a few classic picture books. It also opened up a discussion in class about how it is important to learn and respect other cultures despite any perceived differences. Culture Agents succeeds because it is not only educational but it is fun……….I look forward to future missions and so do my own “Culture Agents”.
