Eton FRX3 Hand Turpine AM/FM Weather Alert Radio Review
Living in Florida with frequent turbulent weather including severe storms, tornadoes, tropical storms and hurricanes it is critical that we have a high quality weather alert radio in our home and while on the go.
Eton has an excellent selection of weather alert radios including the FRX3 model. This model has a hand turbine generator which not only charges the weather alert radio but can also charge our smartphone!
The Eton FRX3 is the perfect weather radio because it is designed to be portable so we can take it along with us when we go camping or sporting events and not get caught off guard by inclement weather. In addition to the hand turbine it is also self-powered by a solar panel and has the option to use AAA batteries if you prefer. The Eton FRX3 is an AM/FM/WB digital radio with a NOAA weather alert display that is easy to read because of the LED light and glow in the dark indicator. It also has an AC/DC headphone input to make listening to weather reports or the radio easy and a digital alarm and flashlight which come in especially handy especially on camping trips.
We like this model so much that it has replaced our old weather radio. It is easy to use and has alerted us to several recent severe storm alerts making it reliable too. To power it up simply crank it for 90 seconds which gives us approximately 5 to 10 minutes of radio use or 20 minutes of flashlight usage. We tested it both ways and it did give us the timed usage as noted in the instructions.
I highly recommend that everyone have a weather alert radio for home and travel. You are invited to visit Eton to browse the entire selection of weather alert radios available or to purchase the FRX3 for only $60.
