The Amazing Action Alphabet Review
I home educate my children and I am always searching for early learning resources to supplement my curriculum. The Amazing Action Alphabet by Esther Kehl of the SeeHearDo Company was created to help children learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet by “seeing, hearing and doing a physical activity”.
The Amazing Action Alphabet includes a Flipchart Book and a Sing-A-Long CD. My four and five year old children were eager for a lesson and we started with the flipchart. I value this method of teaching (memorization by association) because I find that by engaging my children with interactive activities it helps them to learn more effectively. It works by introducing a letter to my child with the letter facing the child as I read aloud a short story on the back. I followed the instructions making this program so easy to follow. For example, showing the letter “Bb” to my son and daughter, I read a story about bear blowing bubbles. I encouraged them to “blow bubbles with a pretend bubble blower and say b-b-b each time B the bear blows bubbles.” They really enjoyed this lesson and wanted to keep going through the alphabet. My four year old son knows his alphabet but does mix up several letters occasionally. After working with him for one week using this flipchart he was able to identify the correct letter and its associated sound. I am one proud mom………thank you The Amazing Action Alphabet!
The Amazing Action Alphabet Sing-A-Long CD features lyrics by Esther Kehl and music by Craig Kaelin. There are 26 fun songs i.e. one for each letter. My kids and I sang and danced along with this interactive CD and we had a blast all while they were learning important letter and sound recognition. This is an excellent accompaniment to the flipchart and my children request to listen to it every day.
The Amazing Action Alphabet Flipchart ($12.95) and the Sing-A-Long CD ($12.95) is available for purchase along with additional resources including an activity and handwriting book. You are invited to visit the SeeHearDo Company to learn more about this comprehension program.
