Pur Minerals Back to School Review

Over the past few years, I’ve changed the way I wear makeup. I used to spend at least 30 minutes  in the morning putting on makeup and I liked to go with the works. I wouldn’t say it was heavy, but you could definitely tell I was wearing it. Now though, I tend to prefer the more natural look and follow the motto less is more. I had the opportunity to try out Pur Minerals 10-piece Miracle Collection and it sounded like a kit that would be a perfect fit for me. I’d never tried their products before but had heard a lot of positive feedback about them and was curious to see how I would like them.

The Pur Minerals Miracle Collection consists of the following ten products:

  1. 4-in-1 Mineral Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20
  2. Disappearing Act™ 4-in-1 Concealer
  3. 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation with SPF 15
  4. 3-in-1 Universal Mineral Makeup Pencil
  5. Hot Rocks
  6. Chisel Brush
  7. 5-piece Brush set
  8. Impact+ Mascara
  9. Revitalizing Facial Wash
  10. Neutral Primer

This is pretty much everything I need to get myself ready from start to finish. I started out with the Mineral Wash in the shower to wash my face. It’s a gentle cleanser that contains aloe vera, orange and lavender essences and essential minerals (magnesium, copper, iron and zinc). I’m always nervous with new cleansers that they will make my already oily face even more greasy. However, this one was great. It rinsed off completely and my skin felt really smooth and soft.  You can also use it on your hair as a shampoo, body wash and to clean your makeup brushes.

After drying off, I applied the 4 in 1 Tinted Moisturizer in Light. It’s a moisturizer, primer, foundation and SPF all in one single application. Love that! Anything that saves me time is a bonus. I liked that it blended right into my skin without a greasy, heavy feeling. I have acne scars so it wasn’t enough on its own for me to cover them up. If I had clear skin though, I probably would have been ok with just it.

After my skin was moisturized, I applied a small amount of the Correcting Primer in Neutral. It reduces the size of your pores and creates flawless and uniform skin. You only need a very small amount because a little goes a long way. It took about a minute or two to fully absorb and I can see and feel the difference right away! It worked wonders on the scaring and seemed to smooth out the bumpy areas. It’s my secret weapon now!

The product I was most curious to try was the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation With SPF 15 in Light. I’m extremely picky when it comes to foundation. I’ve had issues in the past with foundation either not blending properly in my skin and I look like a mannequin or not covering enough and my acne scars are still very visible.  However, this foundation works like a dream. First of all its not one bit messy like some mineral makeup. I dusted it on with the Chisel Brush and it was the perfect match for my skin tone. It even covered up the scarring! I’m EXTREMELY happy with this foundation! I love that it gave me a natural look, yet covered all my blemishes and dark scars. They call it the 4 in 1 because it acts as a concealer, foundation, powder and SPF.

The foundation did such a good job that I only needed just a touch of the Disappearing Act 4-in-1 Concealer in Light. You can use it on blemishes, dark circles and any other areas you want to touch up. I just dabbed a little bit on with my finger and blended it in. I break out more around my cycle so I will get more use out of then I’m sure!

The Hot Rocks are an interesting product. They are small “rocks” that add a warm glow to your cheeks, eyes and lips. I used it as a blush and on my eyes. It’s soft and natural looking and doesn’t go on dark. It’s funny because I often wear blush on my eyes and love the look. It worked great to brighten up my pale face. I can see why it won Natural Health’s 2010 Beauty Awards for Best Blush.

The 3-in-1 Universal Mineral Makeup Pencil serves as a eyeliner, lip liner and brow enhancer. I’m noticing a trend in their products: they are multi-functional and save you time! They come in Almandine, Golden Bronze, Natural and Cocoa Topaz. I tend to prefer the darker eyeliners and Cocoa Topaz is my favourite. However, I do like the other colours as well.

I finished off with the Impact+ Mascara to lengthen, thicken, curl & hydrate your lashes. I like that it doesn’t immediately go on thick. I tend to go lighter on the mascara so it was nice to not have to deal with clumping. It made my eyes look really nice or so John said!

The 5-Piece Lucite Brush Collection completes the set. It has a Powder Makeup Brush, Blush Makeup Brush, Utility Makeup Brush, Eye Shadow Makeup Brush, and Lip Makeup Brush. They are all natural and cruelty free and come in a sleek looking brown case. Love!

I love how the way it made me look- very fresh and natural! I took this pic myself on my phone in natural light.
