Luv Chicken Review

My oldest son is at the point where he is way too big for a high chair, but still too small for a regular adult chair. At almost 4, he’s tall and lanky. We’ve tried a variety of booster seats with no luck. Some still had him too low at the table, others way too high. Pillows weren’t really a good solution for him either. When the opportunity to review a booster cushion from Luv Chicken came my way, I was eager and hopeful that this seat would be the best solution.

When the Rocket Ships pattern Luv Chicken booster seat arrived I was impressed with its construction. The outer shell is made of kid-safe, lead and phthalate free, vinyl coated cotton. The non-slip bottom of the seat is made of a material called Toughtek® – a stretchable 100% polyester knit fabric with a textured neoprene rubber outer coating that really grips the surface it’s placed on. Add on that the pattern is cute, it’s easily cleanable and there’s a convenient carrying handle, and I was sold! The big test came when I put the seat on Matthew’s kitchen chair – the chair that he climbs on to eat, paint, color and play. Matthew was excited to try out the seat too. When he settled into place it was obvious that the seat was the perfect fit for him. He was able to comfortably put his legs under the table while being placed at the perfect level with the table surface. And when he shifted his weight to place his legs underneath him, the seat stayed put – there was no slipping.

Luv Chicken is the invention of Seattle mother of two and graphic designer Ann Hurley. She created the seat out of necessity for her toddler daughter who seemed to have the same issues as my son when it came to finding the perfect seating solution at the dinner table. The 4” booster seat is made to help any toddler who needs an extra boost at the dinner table. And just in case you’re curious, the name Luv Chicken – that’s her daughter’s nickname (certainly a name you’ll remember!). The booster seat sells for $45 and you can buy them directly from the Luv Chicken site.

You can learn more about the Luv Chicken booster cushion, and check out the available patterns, on their website.
