SpecialTex Vehicle Seat Protector Review

I had the opportunity to review the SpecialTex vehicle seat protector. I knew this would be a great product for my family because I have a 13 month old. As we enter the toddler years, I expect things to get messier each day! This definitely applies to car rides, too.

The first thing I thought when I opened the SpecialTex package was that it seemed like a really nice towel. SpecialTex describes it as, “a towel product that is designed to stay in place while you drive.” There is an extra layer on the back with little grippers that help keep the seat protector in place. The front of it is very soft, and that’s because it is made in a thick, 100% cotton terry velour. It’s also machine-washable, which is a must for a product like this. I washed it before I put it in my car, and it stood up to my washing machine just fine.

I decided to use this under my son’s car seat. We have a 2003 Ford Explorer, and his car seat is in the middle seat in the back. The seat protector fit well and was very easy to install. You just place it on the seat, and place the top loop over the back of the seat. Since the middle seat doesn’t have a headrest, there is a big gap near the top. It’s not a problem and still works great, but I would have preferred it to be a little more snug and fitting. I think it would work better on seats with a regular headrest.

My son is still rear-facing in his car seat so his feet touch where a person’s back would normally rest. This means his feet rub up against the front of the seat protector, which is nice and soft. I am especially thankful for the seat protector because Caleb is running everywhere and often wears shoes now. Without the seat protector, the bottoms of his messy shoes would rub right up against the seat!

You can buy your own vehicle seat protector from SpecialTex for $30.00.

I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience. This product is available to U.S. addresses.
