National Geographic Kids Road Trip Books Review
We are leaving soon for our three week summer vacation and will be traveling from Florida to Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. With three young children, I am always trying to think of creative ways that we can entertain them during the very long 20 hour drive.
My seven year old son is able to read this year so books will be a big part of our “busy bag”. We will be packing it with two wonderful books from National Geographic Kids. The National Parks Guide U.S.A. and Ultimate U.S. Road Trip Atlas are two excellent resources that will make our road trip fun and educational.
The National Parks Guide U.S.A. ($14.95) is packed full of beautiful pictures and information about National Parks from all across America. It is broken down into regions and I was even able to find the Shenandoah National Park which will be revisiting this summer in Virginia for a week. It has “Ranger Tips”, “Best Views”, “Take It Easy”, “Be Extreme” and “Animal Sightings”. The National Parks Guide U.S.A. is the perfect handbook for young adventurers everywhere………which National Park will your family visit this year?
The Ultimate U.S. Road Trip Atlas ($5.99) is a treasure trove of maps, games, fascinating facts and even boredom busters. It features all 50 states and includes a map of every state, fun facts and 5 cools things you can do there. My husband has been teaching my son how to read a map so this will be a great way for him to practice by finding each state whenever we cross a new state line on the trip. It even has “Fun Traffic Laws You Won’t Believe”. For example, I’ll be sure not to allow the kids to ride on the roof of a taxi when we visit Youngstown, Ohio because it would be a violation of the law.
Planning your summer road trip or looking for a fresh, new idea? If so, I highly recommend both of these books from National Geographic Kids. You are invited to visit the National Geographic Store to purchase your copies now!
