Maplelea Girls Review
We are a proud Canadian family and I hope to pass along that sense of Canadian pride to both my daughters. Thanks to the Canadian military, we have lived in four different provinces since my first daughter was born 14 years ago. We started out in Eastern Ontario (Pembroke/Petawawa), then moved to Oromocto, NB, then onto Edmonton, Alberta, and back again to Petawawa, ON and now our current home is the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia! I’m grateful for the experience and people I’ve met. It also has given my daughters a chance to see Canada and visit sites in the local area of wherever we are living at the time.
A couple weeks ago, a parcel arrived in the mail and Bridget’s eyes lit up when I opened the package. Inside was her very own Maplelea Girl named Jenna! The Maplelea Girls are a collection of Canadian themed dolls to teach girls from ages 6 to 12 about Canadian culture, heritage and geography. Jenna is a red head doll from Nova Scotia (our current home province) who is 11 years. She’s 18 inches tall and made of high quality vinyl with movable legs and arms so its easy to pose and maneuver. Her eyes are a spectacular green that complement her long beautiful red hair that can be brushed and styled. She’s packaged in a sturdy storage box so you can tuck her and her accessories away when she’s not in use.
She also comes with a 64 page journal filled with all the details about Jenna and her life in Nova Scotia. It describes her family, daily life, local area and of course, about Jenna herself. There’s also a section in the journal for your little girl to fill out with her own entries and details about her life. I asked Bridget to share with me a bit about Jenna from the journal. She was nervous being on camera, but I think she did a great job!
As a mom, I’m impressed with Maplelea Girls. Not only do they provide a high quality toy for Bridget to play with, but they also teach her about being Canadian in a fun way. Bridget enjoys playing with her new doll and makes sure to show her to everyone when they visit the house! Jenna will be going to Ontario this summer when Bridget goes to her Grandma & Poppa’s house! She’s excited to show her aunts and grandma her new doll.
The other Maplelea Girls available are:
- Alexi from Toronto, ON
- Brianne from Manitoba
- Léonie from Quebec City, QC
- Saila from Iqaluit, Nunavut
- Taryn from Banff, AB
Each doll retails for $99.99 and can be purchased from the Maplelea Girls website. I would like to buy Bridget the other dolls in the Collection. I know she would love another one and would be excited to get one for her upcoming birthday!
