Athenos Review

I’m a sucker for cute and clever commercials, and I think ATHENOS has the best out there at the moment. I love the “Yiayia” character – I think we can all find the humor in her strict ways, Greek or not! And the great thing about ATHENOS is that they are not just about clever marketing – they also make wonderful Greek-inspired food products.

I was given the option to choose any ATHENOS product for this review. After a lot of thought, I finally decided on the Reduced Fat Crumbled Feta. I thought it would make a great addition to my daily diet routine, which usually includes a salad for lunch or at dinner. I sprinkled a few pieces on my side salad the other night at dinner and couldn’t believe the difference it made! The taste and texture really made a plain salad something much more flavorful and exciting. In fact, it was so flavorful that both my boys and I started eating the cheese right out of the container! I’m surprised we didn’t finish the whole container that night. I had no guilt indulging since it’s a reduced fat version – it had all the taste, but much less fat. It’s great as an addition to your salads or appetizers, or just straight out of the container! The MSRP for the 6oz container is $4.50.

The ATHENOS mission is to make products the Greek way—simply and with respect for the ingredients. That’s why they use only 100% olive oil in their Hummus and zero preservatives or artificial flavors in their Greek Yogurt. They want you to enjoy your food – food that tastes the way it’s meant to taste. Their products have won numerous taste awards from Good Housekeeping and Cooking Light.
