Today I would like to welcome Jessica from Are Butterflies Ticklish? I had a chance to learn more about herblog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I am a mom to four beautiful children and wife to my wonderful husband. I am also a freelance writer and blogger. I recently started college, and I am pursuing a degree in social work but I may change my major to nursing. My goal is to become a Lactation Counselor at some point.
Please tell me about your blog.
My blog was a way for me to have a place where I could express my own thoughts, opinions, experiences, and feelings. As a freelance writer, I often have to write for other people. Although I enjoy my work, I was never able to write for myself. Now I have a place to write, without worrying about revision requests or being asked to change things. I enjoy blogging about parenting, deals and things related to my life. I also enjoy doing reviews and giveaways.
How did you get started?
After several years of freelance writing and writing content for other people, I decided to do something that was just for me.
Who does your blog appeal to?
My blog would mostly appeal to parents, especially moms, as I blog about breastfeeding and children at times.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I have so many plans for my blog. I have been fortunate enough to meet some other wonderful bloggers in the last few months, and I hope to continue building a network. I know I may never achieve what other bloggers have, as there is a lot of wonderful blogs on the Internet. Yet, I hope to gain a following and know that people enjoy reading what I write. I also hope to continue doing more reviews and giveaways. I love being able to give back to my readers, so giveaways are always fun. It always means a lot to me when I read comments from people and know that something I wrote mattered to them. Even if I do not become a top blog or very well-known, I will still enjoy having a place where I can write, share advice, and maybe help a few moms in the process.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
I have had a hard time managing my time. I still have a house to take care of and four children that need me. I also have numerous clients that I work for, so I have to try to find time to blog, work, and care for my family.
What do you love about blogging?
I love being able to write whatever I want, whenever I want. I also love when a reader comments on my posts and lets me know that it helped them or they enjoyed it. I am also happy that I have been able to make a few connections by blogging.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
I don’t really have any pet peeves. I don’t mind when fellow bloggers stop by my blog and want me to visit their site in return, but I sometimes wish that they would at least read one of my posts and comment on my post. When I participate in blog hops, I always try to read a few posts and look around someone’s blog first, and then leave a comment about the blog or one of the posts, and then I leave a link to my blog, so they can visit if they want too.
