Book Review | Yesterday’s Tomorrow
Author: Ceri Hebert
Have you ever wanted to go back in time and change the decisions you made? Lila Weidner was settled in her life, her job and her marriage. At forty-four, she seldom looked back at her youth and wondered what could have been. She’s not happy, but she’s resigned her self to the life she has. When she starts getting headaches, nausea and chest pain she knows that the stress of her life is starting to get to her. But all that changes when she wakes up and she’s twenty-three again, given the opportunity to change everything about herself.
Does she want to stay with the man she married and did she ever really love him? Or did she only stay with him because he was steady and serious? Is the career she was so determined to pursue really for her? All the things about her life that she never really thought about before are there for her to change. The best friend (a guy) that she lost touch with over the years is now suddenly back in her life and she wonders about the road not taken. And there’s the boyfriend of one of her room mates who is showing interest in her to take into consideration as well.
An interesting concept and well written with humour. I think that with a little extra effort, this short work of fiction could have been a full-length novel. Compact and easy to read, if you have an e-reader of any kind it would be something entertaining to while away the moments on the bus or waiting in the doctor’s office. It also makes you wonder what you would do in her shoes…
