Beanitos Review

I would definitely describe myself as a snacker. I prefer to eat small amounts every few hours rather than having three large meals a day. I’ve also been on a diet since February and snacking seems to help keep the hunger pangs away. I’m 30+ lbs down so it must be working!

One healthy snack that I’ve been enjoying for the past couple weeks are Beanitos– delicious and healthy bean chips! Normally I’d feel guilty by eating regular chips, but not with Beanitos. These chips are a great source of protein and fiber and are also gluten-free/corn-free.  They are crispy like chips and full of flavour. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first tried them, but now I’m addicted! No empty calories here!

I tried four flavours:

  • Beanitos Black Bean Chips in Chipotle BBQ: Hot and spicy and taste very similar to barbecue chips. These ones were John’s favourite.
  • Beanitos Black Bean Chips: Delicious, crispy with just the right amount of salt. More of the black bean flavour comes through with this variety.
  • Beanitos Pinto Bean & Flax Chips: Crispy and have more of cracker taste to me. Lightly salted and yummy dipped in salsa.
  • Beanitos Pinto Bean & Flax Chips in Cheddar Cheese: Spicy and cheesy and oh so addicting. These ones are my daughter’s favourites.

The bags are 35g in size which may look on the smaller side, but I felt satisfied after eating a bag of them. They have 6g of fiber in every bag which makes you feel full faster. If you compare Beanitos to other brands of chips, they have triple the amount of fiber than some!

They taste delicious on their own or with salsa. I’d imagine they would also be great with Wholly Guacamole as well. I wish they sold that in my area because I so wanted to try it!

For your next family barbecue (Victoria Day weekend is coming up fast!) or for a healthy snack for you and your family, pick up some Beanitos on your next shopping trip. I’d love to hear how you liked them! You can find them at Whole Foods, Krogers & Safeway in the USA and select Horizon, Sobeys and Longo’s in Canada.
