Guidecraft Wooden Manipulative Toys Review

As a Guidecraft Educator blog team member, I get excited every month to share with you the wide selection of toys and furniture available for children of all ages at Guidecraft. For toddlers and preschoolers, the line of wooden manipulative toys would be a wonderful way to promote a child’s development of fine motor skills.

The Hide ‘n Seek Shape Sorter ($26.50) is designed for ages 1+ and focuses on helping the child learn shapes, color recognition and sorting skills. In my experience this type toys is always a hit with the youngest children who are especially elated when they get the correct piece in the right spot. This high quality toy is made of wood and is designed to be durable to withstand lots of play. I love that Guidecraft uses non-toxic paint and the corners are round and smooth so it is safe for little ones.

The See-Saw Sorter ($16) is another creative wooden toy that will also help the child to explore colors, shapes, balancing, matching and sequencing. The bright colors are engaging and I appreciate that this toy focuses on multiple skills and the addition of movement makes it even more of a challenge. It is a fun yet educational toy for toddlers and preschool age children.

For the youngest babies and toddlers, the Primary Puzzle Board ($25) is a wonderful first puzzle toy. This all-wood puzzle has color coded shapes and I love that the pieces have easy to grasp handles. It a fun way to teach colors, shapes and even counting to five. It has a raised base making this puzzle perfect for play or floors or on the table.

All three of these wooden manipulative toys would be a wonderful addition to any nursery/preschool class room and would also make a great gift idea for any youngster to play and learn at home. With Guidecraft, I am always confident that I am providing my children with the highest quality toys and furniture that is sure to get lots of playtime and use.
