Glad Black Bag Art Auction
Next week is Spring Clean Up in our area and I can’t wait! John especially is letting go of a lot and I’m so proud of him. Good riddance to his old broken & majorly uncomfortable mattress! Here it is on the side of the road.
Our town is extremely strict with their garbage and recycling. They only allow you to put out four bags of garbage every two weeks (pick up is every second Friday for us) and of those two bags you are only allowed to have one black bag and the rest *must* be clear bags. I guess they want to see what we are throwing out??? The black bags are where you can put items that you don’t want the garbageman or the nosy neighbours to see.
We’ve been testing Glad® ForceFlex® Black Bags and they’ve come in very handy these past few weeks as we are going through our house room by room. I like that they are big (fits up to 30 gallons) and can hold a large amount of garbage. I wanted to see how well they would hold the cat litter because my previous black bags would always rip. I’ve got two cats and two boxes of cat litter so the bag gets pretty heavy to the point that I’m struggling to lift it.
I’m happy to report that the ForceFlex Black Bags did not rip or tear after I cleaned out the litter boxes. The Diamond texture on the bags allows them to stretch and prevents rips and tears. I would put all of my garbage in these bags if the town would let me because they rock!
Glad Black Bag Art Auction
Glad® Black Bag is currently hosting an art auction where trash is turned into works of art. This reminds me of the old saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. They’ve teamed up with Keep America Beautiful and The Picker Sisters to auction off original pieces of upcycled art created by artist Jason Mecier. He isn’t using just any ol’ trash either. In fact, these pieces are made from trash from celebrities including Amy Smart, Jesse Eisenberg, Lauren Conrad, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullaly, Chelsie Hightower and Nathan Kress! Pretty neat right?
My favourite piece is this Original “Wild Life” Chimpanzee!
This auction is definitely an eye-opener and has given me a new perspective on trash. It’s amazing how he has created such beautiful works of art with items that most people wouldn’t give a second glance at. Put altogether, however, he has made something very special.
You can bid on any of the four pieces at the Glad Black Bag Art Auction until April 26th. All proceeds go to Keep America Beautiful’s Great America Clean Up Events. Which one is your personal favourite?
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Glad Black Bag and received a Glad Black Bag product and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate. I was also asked to “pin” one (1) Glad Black Bag Art Auction photo on Pinterest.
