Gaiam TV Review | Health, Wellness & Fitness Programming for Busy Moms
It amazes me everyday how far technology has advanced even in the past five years. Everything I need can be pretty much accessed through the Internet. I read both the local and national news online, watch movies through the computer, discover and try new recipes from food blogs PLUS now I can access health, wellness and fitness programming right from my computer! I don’t even have cable or satellite anymore. I just don’t see the need since the Internet provides me with just about everything.
I recently had a chance to try out Gaiam TV and was very impressed. Gaiam TV is the perfect solution for busy moms who want a break and are interested in improving themselves. With over 2000 titles of health, wellness and fitness videos, there’s so much selection that you could spend an hour or two just browsing and deciding what shows to watch. Think of it like Netflix, but instead of movies, it’s all shows geared towards improving your life through fitness, health, etc.
One reason I liked it so much is that it exposed me to videos I probably wouldn’t have seen before. I’m interested in learning Yoga and with Gaiam TV, I have so many Yoga videos to choose from. For example, I can filter the yoga videos by:
Level: I like the very basic level since I’m new at this.
Style: I had no idea there was so many types of Yoga! There’s many options to choose from like Ashtanga (Madonna does this one), Hatha, Power and even Kids Yoga.
Teacher: If you have a preference for a particular instructor.
Time: How long you want to workout for.
Special Collections: Here you find Prenatal, Stress Relief, Weight Loss, etc.
My physiotherapist has been wanting me to take up Pilates and guess what? There’s lots of Pilates videos on Gaiam TV too! I’ve been checking out the Pilates for Beginners to see how I fare. So far so good.
I love the selection! I’m like a kid in a candy store. Here’s a breakdown of what you can find:
- Yoga Studio
- Fitness Studio: Cardio, Dance, Kid’s Fitness, Pilates, Weight Training, etc
- Health & Wellness: Health Conditions videos (Menopause, IBS, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, etc), Prevention videos and Weight Loss & Nutrition
- Films & TV: Documentaries, Kids & Family shows, TV Series
- Spirituality: Personal Development (ie. Deepak Chopra and Jack Canfield) and Philosophy & Religion
- Metaphysics: Conscious Journey and Hidden Knowledge
- Explorations: Art & Culture, Science & Technology and Travel & Adventure
- Environment: Nature and Sustainability
Besides the fitness videos, I’m hooked on the Travel & Adventure. I’ve been a geography buff since I was in high school and love learning about different cultures and landscapes. There’s so many titles in this section that I want to watch.
Gaiam TV is also very easy to use. I had no problems navigating the site and searching for videos. When you find a video you like that you want to watch at a later time, simply add it to your playlist so it will be there ready for you when you have the time to watch it.
It’s available for you to watch and enjoy 24/7. There’s no waiting for timings for shows to be on. It’s ready in an instant when you are ready to watch. Watch it on your desktop, laptop, iPad or Smartphone. I use my laptop because we can connect it to the big TV so it shows up there too!
Gaiam TV is FREE to try for the first 10 days. If you like what you see, you can subscribe to their monthly plan for only $9.95/month. You will have access to it all and can watch as much as you like! They also have a no strings attached policy so you can cancel at any time so there’s no contracts or commitments.
If you are interested in improving your health & fitness levels or just like health & wellness shows, give Gaiam TV a try for the 10 days and see what you think. I think you will like what you see!
