Book Review | The Bear Went Over the Mountain
Title: The Bear Went Over the Mountain
My Review:
I love reading books to my children that celebrates the start of spring which is our favorite season. The Bear Went Over the Mountain is a wonderful addition to our springtime collection and it teaches children about all four seasons of the year. It is a classic retelling of the favorite of one of our favorite children’s songs and it is written and illustrated by award winning author, Iza Trapani.
Capturing all of the wonders of spring using his five senses, bear can see, hear, smell, touch and taste the wonder of the world around him. There are colorful, soft flower blossoms, adorable fuzzy ducklings, delicious honey and even a stinky skunk (my children’s favorite part of the book).
The watercolor illustrations bring the story to life beautifully and it really captures the essence of all four seasons perfectly. Written for children ages 4-8, all three of my children who are ages 6, 5 and 4 enjoyed this book and were humming the song for days to come. I plan to read this book with my child to celebrate the beginning of each new season……it is a timeless children’s book!
