Book Review | Skin Rules
Author: Debra Jaliman
I was very impressed with Skin Rules. Dr. Jaliman has formatted the book in such an easy to follow and simple way. She talks about seventy-seven rules to follow to help keep your skin healthy and youthful looking. Each rule is displayed on one page and the information as to why it’s a rule and what to do about it is on the following page. So simple.
I just turned thirty, which is a prime time to start worrying about the care I take on my skin. Though, I suppose technically I should have started years ago, but it’s never too late to start.
Some of the rules were exactly the type of information that I need to know like how to properly wash my face, what type of sunscreen to buy, and when it really is necessary to go see a dermatologist rather than trying the at home cure. My favorite thing though, is that Dr. Jaliman actually lists specific brands that she recommends. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to start a skin care routine but once I got to the store I was overwhelmed by all the options and just backed out. Now I’m armed with information and I can feel confident when I head to the store to purchase my skin care products.
As a mother, I’ve been very aware of the need to keep my children’s skin protected from the sun. I thought I was doing great applying sunscreen regularly, particularly since my girls have never had a sunburn. I would buy what I could find and that was that. But did you know that some sunscreens are not a good choice at all? I certainly didn’t. Dr. Jaliman uses a few rules just on sunscreen. And if she’s that thorough with sunscreen, imagine how she is with the rest of the rules she has laid out for us.
This is an amazingly simple and fast read that will benefit you for the rest of your life. You won’t regret the investment.
