Yawning Yoga has been an amazing addition to the bed time routine at our house. With two little girls to manage, it’s difficult to get them calmed down and ready for bed. Yawning Yoga has been a huge help in getting my girls settled and ready for a good night’s sleep.
From the minute Yawning Yoga arrived in the mail my girls have been excited about it. They practically beg me to read it to them every night. I’ve found it’s been a great motivator to get them to hurry up and get their rooms clean and into their pajamas. They really don’t want me to deny them their story time.
Even at five and two years old, my girls are able to do the simple yoga moves that are described throughout the book. One thing that I love as a parent is the index in the back. It allows me to look up each move to make sure that the girls are doing them correctly. It also lists the purpose for each move and what my girls are getting out of them.
It’s gotten to the point now where the girls can just look at the pictures and know exactly what yoga pose to go to before I even start reading. I will admit that there are a few moves that are a little over my youngest girls head, but I know in time she’ll understand better what it is she’s supposed to be doing. For now, she just enjoys mimicking what her older sister loves to do.
It definitely helps calm them down. I’ve noticed a big difference in the nights when I haven’t had time to read them Yawning Yoga before bed. If they don’t read it, they’re constantly trying to sneak out of bed, looking for any excuse not to sleep. But when we take the time to read Yawning Yoga, they calm down and go right to sleep. As a parent, I couldn’t ask for anything more amazing then an easy bed time routine and a few moments to myself at the end of the day.
