Tuesday’s Top Blogs According to Weather Anchor Mama

Welcome to Tuesday’s Top Blogs! Come and discover some new and interesting blogs. Each week I will feature a different person and ask them to list their five favourite blogs and why they like them. This week, I’m pleased to have Stacy-Ann from Weather Anchor Mama joining us.

Some may know me as Stacy-Ann Gooden, weather anchor and former traffic reporter in New York City. Since becoming a mom, you’ll get to know me as Weather Anchor Mama. I didn’t plan on starting a blog. But after going through various conundrums with my little Princess, I’ve decided to jot it all down.

Sometimes I post cute photos of her. Other times I write about my nursing experience, being a career mom, and cool beauty tips I’ve picked up along the way. It’s all been a tough balancing act so far. But, I love it!

I want to share my experiences with other parents who may be able to relate. Maybe I can help someone overcome an obstacle along the way. Maybe I can learn from other moms and dads. It’s also a great way for family and friends to stay in touch. But most importantly, my little girl will someday read this blog. She’ll learn all about her family, and she’ll know how much she’s loved.

Favourite blogs…

Baby Makin(g) Machine inspired me to start my own blog. When I was pregnant with Princess, I did a lot of research online to prepare for her arrival. I stumbled across this blog and was able to relate to this blogger. We share similar career paths. We were able to connect online and in person.

De Su Mama: Through www.desumama.com I learned about “Loving Day,” a holiday I never knew existed. It celebrates interracial relationships. Blog 1, 2 and I have that in common. It’s great knowing that you can learn from your peers. In addition, not too long ago I read a post on biracial hair. Now that Princess’s hair is finally growing, it’s nice to know that there are other moms out there who deal with not know how to handle a child who has different textured hair from her own. I got some pretty cool tips. These are just some of the example of why I like de su mama.

Multicultural Familia focuses on families that are multicultural like my own. I’ve been fortunate to be a guest blogger on this site. What I love about it is that I’ve learned how families deal with differences. For instance, my hubby is American and I am Jamaican. There was never an issue with Christmas or Halloween. But after having Princess, deciding on how to celebrate has been challenging to say the least. For example, he was brought up believing in Santa. Santa isn’t celebrated in my country, nor is Halloween. This website touches on these differences. I’m able to learn how other families deal with situations like these. We know we’re not alone. Reading about how other families deal with cultural differences helps.

BabyCenter is the quintessential blog to go to for all things concerning family. I was able to track my pregnancy through this site as well as learn valuable information about breastfeeding, preparing the right foods for your child, and how to deal with teething just to name a few. There is a plethora of information found on this site. There are also moms who share their parenting stories too. Very informative!

Weather Anchor Mama is one of my favs. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but my blog has come a long way. At first I didn’t want to post pics of my little girl. In fact, I was a very private person. But after fans, family, and friends began requesting to see photos of Princess, I gave in. Now I see the impact my blog has on others. Today someone told me how much I inspired them to begin a scrapbook. You see, from time to time I post pics, and video of Princess. For father’s day I made a 15 minute video chronicling the first 10 months of her life. I incorporated home videos, pictures, music. It took months to do, but it’s something that he’ll always have. He was brought to tears after watching it. I’m so glad I was able to inspire someone else to do the same.
