It All Starts with Yes Challenge Giveaway (Can)

I remember a poem my aunt gave me when Olivia was first born. I can’t recite it word for word but it was along the lines of “the housework will always be there, but your children won’t”. The gist of it was to spend time with your kids and cherish every moment you can. Of course, I’m not perfect by any means and I do say no to my kids…a lot. It seems there’s never enough hours in the day to get it all done, but I know that it’s important to say “yes” when my kids ask me to do something and that “no” shouldn’t be the answer that always automatically flies out of my mouth.

Many Canadian moms are in the same predicament as me and find not having enough time to spend with their kids as a reason for saying no. 64% of moms regularly say no to their children when they ask for family time together. Proctor & Gamble’s Family Care brands (Bounty®, Charmin®, Puffs® , Tide® and Mr. Clean®) have initiated a challenge to moms to get them to start saying yes. I took the It All Starts with Yes Challenge this past weekend with my youngest daughter, Bridget and we had so much fun!

Bridget has been wanting to bake cookies for the longest time and I always kept putting off with excuses like I’ve got too much to do today or we don’t have the ingredients. When she asked me early Saturday to make some cookies, I surprised her by saying yes! We looked together through my cookbooks to pick out a recipe that she wanted to make and then drove to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients.

She measured most of the ingredients and added them to the bowl. I operated the electric mixer though for safety reasons. She wanted to eat a few chocolate chips and I said yes go ahead!

The cookies turned out great! I’m on a cleanse right now so couldn’t try any but John and Bridget ate a bunch.

The kitchen ended up a mess, but that was ok. I had so much fun baking with Bridget and plan to do it again with her this weekend. I’ll let her pick out another recipe to try. I will make more of an effort to turn my “no’s” into “yes’s” as often as I can. She is growing up right before my eyes. I encourage to take the It All Starts with Yes Challenge too and make memories with your kids. Make sure to visit the challenge Facebook page and share your “yes” stories with the community! There’s also a contest on their Facebook page for $10,000 for a dream family adventure that you can enter when you take the challenge.

One Canadian reader will win an It All Starts with Yes Challenge Prize Pack that includes Tide® original liquid laundry detergent, a Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser, box of Puffs® facial tissue, Charmin® Freshmates, and adult and child-size aprons. I also received Bounty Paper Towel but won’t be able to ship that since it will cost too much for postage because of the size.
