Dulce de Leche Desserts
If you haven’t tried the deliciousness of Dulce de Leche desserts, then you don’t know what you are missing! These yummy melt-in-your-mouth desserts are fabulously sweet and delicious. Dulce de Leche Desserts are the kind of desserts where you take a bite, close your eyes, and just take in the mouthwatering flavor. But, wait! What is this deliciousness we speak of? I am so glad you asked.
Dulce de Leche is a sweet confection made of milk and sugar and can be purchased in stores however if you can’t find it, you can always make your own caramel sauce from sweetened condensed milk. Or, if you are like me and you can’t ever remember to restock the sweetened condensed milk, no worries! You can also make it the old-fashioned way of using milk and sugar.
Using this method, you boil milk and sugar long enough to allow the water in the milk to evaporate. This causes the mix to become the color and consistency of caramel sauce. This method takes a bit longer and it is not quite as sweet as the sweetened condensed milk version but will work in a pinch.
Dulce de Leche Desserts
Dulce de Leche gives a wonderfully sweet flavor to a variety of sweet foods such as cakes, cookies, candies, and beverages. It adds a wonderful dimension of flavor that you just can’t get any other way. Actually, it is similar to caramel except that it has a thicker creamier texture to it. With that thought in mind, you can use it in place of caramel in most recipes like our yummy Caramel Cookie Cups.
