First Glimpse | Disney’s John Carter Arrives in Theatres March 19th, 2012

Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom (Mars) series will come to life on the big screen on March 9, 2012 as Disney’s John Carter. There are a total of 11 books in the Barsoom series, but the Disney flick is based on the first book, A Princess of Mars. John Carter is a former military captain who ends up on Mars and finds himself in the middle of a conflict between the people of the planet. The future of the planet rests entirely in John Carter’s hands.

I’m very excited especially to see actors Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) and Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) involved in this film. A few months ago I saw a teaser trailer for this film while attending another movie, and I’m very pleased to be able to share a trailer with you. I’m certain you will become just as excited for this movie as I am.

The writer/director for John Carter is Andrew Stanton, who also wrote the screenplay for and directed Disney/Pixar’s WALL*E, which earned both an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature in 2008. Pulitzer Prize Winner Michael Chabon is the co-writer of the screenplay. With such a talented team behind this project, I am positive that John Carter will be a truly excellent action/adventure/fantasy film.

If you would like to keep tabs on this project, “like” John Carter on Facebook and check out their official website.
