Holiday Gift Guide | Inside the Jewish Bakery Book Review
Author: Stanley Ginsberg and Norman Berg
Inside the Jewish Bakery-Recipes & Memories from the Golden Age of Jewish Baking by Stanley Ginsberg and Norman Berg is a wonderful cookbook featuring traditional Eastern European Jewish baking. This book goes far beyond a mere cookbook because not only does it include delicious recipes but it also chronicles the history and tradition in a very interesting and engaging manner for the reader.
I was delighted to discover an entire section devoted to my favorite bread, Challah. In fact, there is a treasure trove of information for bread baking and I can’t wait to try some of the recipes that would be appropriate for novices like me.
For example, there are also recipes for other enticing baked goods such as Honey Cake (Lekach), Classic Jelly Roll, Strawberry Cheesecake (this looks amazing….) and Danish Coffee Ring.
I really like the “Trouble Shooting for Failed Cakes” guide that is included with this book because I am sure that I will need to refer to it as I try my hand at many of these recipes and perhaps it will even save me from impending disaster!
Overall, I am very impressed with Inside the Jewish Bakery because it is very comprehensive and yet is written in a manner that can be understood by home cooks of many skill levels. I am excited to don my apron and head into the kitchen with my prep chef (five year old daughter) to make a treat that the entire family can enjoy!
Inside the Jewish Bakery is currently in stock and available for purchase for only $24.95 which is a great value in my opinion for the content included in this book. You can learn more about this book by visiting the website.
