For Amir and Allison, the owners of the jewelry site Glass Peace, the process of creating jewelry using glass and fire is labor-intensive, but the reward to them is worth it. The result is one-of-a-kind individual works of art that they are able to share with consumers who appreciate a sort of fragile beauty.
I first became interested in glass blown jewelry pieces and works of art after reading a fantasy book series that featured a main character who created animals from blown glass that had a bit of magic in them. I now own a total of four pieces of jewelry made of glass.
From Glass Peace, I received a pendant from their Dichroic collection. Dichroic glass contains several layers of glass, which means that several colors are reflected. When I move my pendant back and forth, the colors become liquid and look very alive. Dichroic is a Greek word that means “two-colored”.
Any pendant from the Dichroic collection comes with a plastic slip knot black cord that is easy to adjust for your desired length. It is shipped in a simple black cardboard box so you can give it readily as a gift. Though I like the idea behind the cord, I prefer a more dressed up look with my jewelry, and will probably look for a silver chain for the pendant, or purchase a satin black cord that is meant for a necklace.
Glass Peace has more to offer than just pendants. I particularly enjoyed looking through the lampwork glass earrings and the glass universe rings. If you are looking for something really unique, I recommend the glass sea anemone pendants.
With Christmas fast approaching, Glass Peace is a good place to start for that person in your life who has fine taste and seems to have everything already.
