Holiday Gift Guide | Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and Their New Skates Book Review

Title: Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and Their New Skates

Author: Maj Lindman

About the book:

Early one Christmas morning in Sweden, Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka opened their eyes. Soon they would have their Christmas gifts! For the first time in over thirty years, this classic holiday tale returns, in a deluxe hardcover edition. Longtime fans of the series will delight in revisiting the story, and new readers will find fun and excitement as the girls must save their friend Bertie after an ice-skating disaster.

My review:

I love reading vintage books to my children and this charming classic by Maj Lindman embodies all of the warmth and timelessness of her original books that were released in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The first time that I read this picture book aloud to my little ones, we were cuddled up together on the couch drinking mugs of hot cocoa. They absolutely love this fun story and have requested it many more times since then. Along with the solid story line, the illustrations are delightful. My five year old daughter was also thrilled to discover the set of paper dolls that is conveniently housed in the back of this book. I would recommend this picture book not only for fans of this book series but for anyone who enjoys a wonderful story that will really get you and your children in the spirit for the holidays.

*I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this novel.*
