Holiday Gift Guide | Baby K’tan Review

Most baby gear doesn’t intimidate me, but something about baby carriers gets me frazzled every time. I have had the Baby K’tan for quite some time now and each weekend I promised myself I would get the courage up to try it and each weekend passed without me even laying eyes on it.

Finally, I opened the instruction booklet and saw that each page featured clear and easy pictures to follow for a variety of positions to hold your baby! I began to experiment with the product and realized how easy it is to orient it and begin trying out the most comfortable positions for you and your baby. The fabric is soft and stretchy and washes well. It is easy to manipulate the loops so that you can place your baby safely within the carrier. I like that there are six ways to use the Baby K’tan. This really allows you to tailor the product to your needs and the needs of your baby. For what amounts to two simple loops of fabric, this carrier is incredibly versatile!

Since my son is five months old and is holding his head very steadily, I chose to try the adventure position. This also suits my son’s personality right now because he really likes to have leg freedom and to see what is going on around him. I was skeptical at first but then really excited to see how firmly he was held against my body (I was afraid he would be flopping around too much for lack of a better way to explain it). He seemed content and I am really excited that it worked out because I feel the K’tan is perfect for being out and about when you don’t want to drag a stroller around or lug a heavy car seat. I intend to use this for trips to our favorite farmer’s market which is amazing, but tight on space.

The Baby K’tan comes with a matching hat and a sash that you can use to better anchor the baby and provide more stability. It comes in a variety of colors including basic black, sage, warm cocoa and eggplant. The carrier is made of 100% soft, organic cotton. There is also a half mesh, half cloth version that allows for better air circulation during the warm summer months. There is an option to personalize your Baby K’tan as well. It will accommodate your baby from 8 to 35 pounds.
