Danimals Rally for Recess | Win $20,000 for Your Elementary School #RallyforRecess

I smile when I remember my days at Laurentian Public School in Pembroke, ON. Some of my best childhood memories are playing with my friends at recess. I loved going outside and running around, playing games and just being carefree. Oh those were the days!

I was a very active kid and constantly on the move. Here’s just a few of the games and activities I participated in during recess:

  • Jump Rope (I could even “double dutch”)
  • Red Rover
  • Tag
  • Baseball & Soccer Baseball
  • Marbles
  • Trading Cards (the Wacky cards found in bubble gum in the 80s)
  • Air Bands (Co-ordinating dance moves to Tiffany & Debbie Gibson songs)
  • Swinging on the swings & hanging upside down on the monkey bars

Recess was an outlet for me to burn off some of that restless energy and just a way for me to be a kid. It makes me sad to think of a childhood without a recess. We had three recess breaks a day when I was in school and I looked forward to each and every one of them. I know when I ask my youngest daughter what her favourite subject is at school she always replies with “recess”! I guess she is following in her mom’s footsteps.

In the past twenty years, children have lost an average of 8 hours of recess a week. Danimals Rally for Recessis a national initiative designed to create healthy competition, pitting school against school. Go to Danimals Rally for Recess for a chance to win $20,000 for your Elementary school playground. Plus each day Danimals is giving recess-related prizes to keep kids healthy and active. I have partnered with Dannon/Danimals to help promote the “Rally for Recess” campaign. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about the promotion and product, and hosting a giveaway where the prize has been provided by Dannon/Danimals. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.Contest Rules.
