Book Review | After the Party

Title: After the Party: A Novel

Author: Lisa Jewell

My Review:

I just finished Lisa Jewell’s After the Party. This was an enjoyable book to read. The plot is fairly simple but not at all predictable. After the Party follows a couple through a rough stage in their life. They are unmarried and have 2 children.

As a mother, I can easily relate to a lot of what happens in this book as I think any woman could. There are quite a few surprises in this book which were timed perfectly to keep my attention. It hints to the movie Sliding Doors, but is more realistic since in life since we do not get “do-overs” or answers to the “what if’s” in life.

After the Party does not gloss over life’s troubles; it reveals consequences to direct actions. The relationships between the 2 main characters are very well established and believable. I could not help but have the lead man, in the book, be Hugh Grant, since this book is set in England after all.

I think anyone would get some sort of life lesson from After the Party. It is a sweet story and full of twists and turns which make this a very fun book to read.

*I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this novel.*
