Whirlpool Duet High Efficiency Electric Dryer Review #WhirlpoolMoms

I am so pleased to be able to introduce you to all of the amazing, user friendly features of the Whirlpool Duet® Washer and Dryer as part of my experience with the Mom Central Whirlpool Test Drive Campaign. Read my first post about my new Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer.

This month, I would like to focus on how the Whirlpool Duet® High Efficiency Electric Dryer with Steam Cycles has really made doing the laundry a more pleasurable experience in our household. Laundry is an endless cycle in our family of five and on average I wash and dry between 11-15 loads of laundry per week.

This Whirlpool Duet® 7.4 cu. Ft. dryer has advanced features that make it easy to dry virtually any fabric with 13 automatic cycles and six temperature settings. As a frugal, eco-conscious consumer my favorite feature is the Advanced Moisture Sensing system which actually “measures temperature and moisture levels, so the dryer stops itself when clothes are dry to save energy.” So how does it work? According to Whirlpool, there are “three built-in sensors that read incoming air temperature and outgoing air temperature while monitoring moisture levels inside the dryer, so the drying cycle can end when everything is perfectly dry.” I have a tendency to over dry my laundry because with previous dryers clothing was occasionally still damp and I had to rewash it because it had a musty smell. I have personally observed the Advanced Moisture Sensing system in action with my new Whirlpool Duet® dryer and when the cycle stopped all of my garments have been dried and smelled fresh!

There are two features that are very appealing to me as a busy mom such as the Quick Refresh Steam Cycle and the Enhanced Touch-Up Steam Cycle. I will be very honest, I am not a big fan of ironing and in fact it is a task that I will avoid at all cost whenever possible. Thanks to these two features, my iron is currently collecting dust in my laundry room because any time I want to freshen clothes or get out those wrinkles, the steam technology features quickly (in as little as 15 to 20 minutes) take out wrinkles so our clothes, tablecloths, sheets etc. are ready to use and wrinkle-free.

Additional features of the Whirlpool Duet® High Efficiency Electric Dryer include:

  • SilentSteel Stainless Steel Dryer Drum
  • Full Color Widescreen LED Display
  • Quiet Dry Ultra Noise Reduction System
  • Laundry Hints and Tips

There are 13 different drying cycles to make it easy for me to select the perfect cycle/temperature for a particular load of laundry. The ones that I find myself using quite frequently include the Heavy Duty Cycle for my husband’s work clothing, Normal or Casual Cycles for regular clothing, towels etc. and the Delicate Cycle for lingerie, my children’s dressy clothes, satin or Egyptian cotton sheets etc.

It is very easy to use the LED display to quickly set up my laundry cycle and since I like to save money on my electric bill, I also use the EcoBoost™ Option which can cut down on drying energy by “using a portion of the dryer’s dual heating element and extending cycle time.”

I have been very pleased with the Whirlpool Duet® Washer and Dryer over the past two months. I realize that investing in a washer and dryer is a decision that is not made lightly. When my parents asked me for a personal recommendation a few weeks ago when their dryer died, I did not hesitate to recommend this appliance to my family.

Now…..if it could only fold and put away the clothes too then I would be in laundry nirvana!
