Tuesday’s Top Blogs According to Pretty Opinionated
Welcome to Tuesday’s Top Blogs! Come and discover some new and interesting blogs. Each week I will feature a different person and ask them to list their five favourite blogs and why they like them. This week, I’m pleased to have Nikki from Pretty Opinionated joining us.
Pretty Opinionated is a review blog that splits its focus between book reviews and product or service reviews that appeal to women and school-age children. Everything on the site is reviewed by me, and when applicable, my six year old son, who thinks it’s awesome that he gets stuff before his friends have even heard of it.
Makobi Scribe: Makobi Scribe is one of my favorite blogs because it contains such a wealth of information for both new and established bloggers. I really appreciate the time taken to help fellow bloggers figure out the ins and outs of social networking, monetization, and general blog improving techniques. The frequent giveaways and honest reviews are also awesome too, but it’s the sheer amount of help she provides to other bloggers that really gained my attention and respect
Ad Meliora Vertamur: Ad Meliora Vertamur translates to “let us turn to better things,” Alison is definitely working her way to those better things. She primarily writes about her life as a newly dating single mom, and she’s absolutely hilarious. No matter what life throws at her, she turns it into a learning experience that she can laugh at, or at least poke a little fun at. I should disclose the fact that she’s my real life best friend, but she knows I wouldn’t give her props unless I truly meant them.
Secret Agent Mama: Secret Agent Mama is one of my favorite blogs to look at as well as read. Mishelle’s photos are the star of the site, and they are stunning. When she photographs food, you almost feel like you can literally jump into the monitor and taste it. Her photos of people are so beyond the typical portraits, really allowing you to see their personality shine through
All Things Urban Fantasy: I am a huge fan of urban fantasy books, and as the name implies, All Things Urban Fantasy covers the genre from top to bottom, from the most well-known authors to those I’ve never heard of. I discover new favorites and keep up to date on old ones through this blog. I love that the author features frequent guest bloggers and interviews so I can really get to know the writer behind the books.
Griffin’s Feathered Nest: Griffin’s Feathered Nest is one of the first blogs I ever started following, and holds a sentimental spot in my Google reader. It remains one of my favorites because of the combination of wit, wisdom and honest, well-written reviews featured on the site. My favorite posts are the stories about her son, Griffin, especially since he reminds me so much of my son when he was a toddler.
