Book Review | The Magnesium Miracle
Title: The Magnesium Miracle
Author: Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D.
About the book:
More than seventy-five years ago, medical scientists declared magnesium to be an essential nutrient, indispensable to life. When this mineral is part of your diet, you are guarding against–and helping to alleviate–health threats such as heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, depression, arthritis, and asthma. But while research continues to reaffirm magnesium’s irreplaceable contribution to good health, many Americans remain dangerously deficient.
In The Magnesium Miracle, Dr. Carolyn Dean, an authority on this mineral who has used it with dramatic success in her own practice, explains the vital role that magnesium plays in the control of many serious ailments–from painful muscle spasms and bladder problems to traumatic brain injury and complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
I was immediately drawn into this treasure trove of information about magnesium from page one and I simply could not stop reading this book. In fact it is currently worn from being referenced to time and time again. I am currently enjoying a magnesium rich diet as a part of my staying on track with a healthy lifestyle and a pleasant bonus is my slow and steady weight loss that has been elusive since my pregnancies. From asthma, depression, migraines, leg cramps and more, this book addresses the possible effects of magnesium deficiency which is surprisingly common in the Western world. My four year old daughter has a wonderful specialist for her pediatric asthma and he also encourages her to eat foods that are rich in magnesium such as almonds, salmon and greens. In addition, I also reaped the benefits of magnesium during my three high risk pregnancies and had full term births. Therefore, from my own personal experience, I highly recommend this book by Dr. Carolyn Dean for anyone who wants to learn more about magnesium and its effects on the body.
