Book Review | Dancing Her Dreams Away
Author: Alretha Thomas
I’m all about your dreams, and making sure you do what you can in life to fulfill those “dreams”… I’m all for parents helping their children succeed when they see their children are good at something…but this book is not about that – it’s about the dreams that get away, or the dreams that have to change because of circumstances in your life. Some people are so talented – they get wrapped up into that, and then fall into the trap of the bad part, instead of looking at the good they do with regards to their talents.
The main character – Sheila – she’s only 21, she’s been poor her whole life, didn’t have a father, and was raised by her grandmother. She wanted to be a star, but instead is faced with being homeless – so she ends up getting a job that she might not have taken otherwise. Down the line, she ends up being played by the producer – which we all know that cause and affect type of thing – this one is a dozy.
This book could be about anyone, and will have things that you just didn’t see happening or coming. It’s a great story – and being based at the time where I was also 21 and poor – you know why someone has a particular mindset. As you read the story – keep in mind how someone can be at that age – and don’t be so quick to judge the character! You do crazy things when you are in a bad mindset!!!
Awesome book – I now have a new author I want to follow! I love books that give you a message – and this one, can give you one of many – if only you let yourself see them! I know if it wasn’t for books like this – and many others, I wouldn’t be the person I am today! It is hard to overcome a bad situation – love the book and how it portrayed the different things!
